Volume Burst
One candle on several times the usual volume, then a quiet pause inside its range - with six plain checks beside each setup.
Examples taken from the live lists on 2 Oct 2026. Prices and rows change every hour; the steps do not.
What this tab finds
Volume Burst lists stocks that printed one loud candle - a big move on at least three times the usual volume - and shows what has happened since. Each row is one stock, on one timeframe, in one direction: a buying burst (a big rise) or a selling burst (a big fall).
The rule is fixed by the engine, not typed by you. Beside each setup the tab prints the facts a buyer of size would check - how much the stock trades, where on the bigger chart the burst happened, whether the pause is holding - and six checks that turn those facts into a tick, a cross or a grey dot.
Example
A buying burst, still coiling, 2 Oct 2026 (data as of the 1 Oct close)
ABBOTINDIA (Pharma), daily: on 18 Sep it rose 5.25% on 5.1× its average volume. In the 9 candles since, it has closed inside that candle's range every day; the first 6 stayed wholly inside, on volume below average (0.9×). 4 of 6 checks.
Open it on the site →Keep in mind. A checklist, not a forecast. How often setups with more checks went on to work has not been measured, so this tab prints no success rate.
The burst: what counts
A candle is a burst when all three hold:
- Move: it closed at least a set per cent beyond the previous candle's close (close on close). The step grows with the timeframe: 4% on 1 day, 6% on 3 day, 8% on 1 week, 10% on 2 week, 12% on 1 month, 15% on 2 month, 20% on 3 month.
- Volume: at least 3 times the average volume of the 20 candles before it.
- Close: in the half of its range the move points to - the upper half for a rise, the lower half for a fall.
A selling burst is the same rule turned over: a fall of at least the step, on 3× volume, closing in the lower half. Only closed candles are used; the candle still forming is never judged.
A row stays on the list for 20 closed candles after its burst, then leaves - or sooner, if a newer burst in the same direction replaces it.
Example
Bursts on the 1 Oct close
SCHNEIDER +5.98% on 6.5× volume, HFCL +5.00% on 3.4× (gapped up, closed on its high), and on the selling side BAJAJ-AUTO -7.62% on 7.0× (gapped down, closed near its low).
Open it on the site →The four states
The tabs under the controls split the setups by what the closed candles after the burst have done. The first close outside the burst candle's range decides it for good. Each tab shows its count.
| State | The tab's own words | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Coiling | pausing inside the burst candle | Candles have closed since the burst, and none has closed outside its range. This is the default tab. |
| Just fired | burst on the last closed candle | The burst is the newest closed candle; nothing has followed yet. The next candle decides. |
| Broke out | closed above the trigger (below, for selling) | A close went through the trigger - the burst's high for a buying burst, its low for a selling one. |
| Failed | closed below the stop (above, for selling) | A close went through the stop - the other end of the burst candle. |
Closes, not wicks: a wick through the high that closes back inside has not broken out. The After column's 'candles inside' counts only the candles that stayed WHOLLY inside, so a coiling row can read 0 candles inside if wicks poked out but every close held.
Example
Coiling with 0 candles inside
TEGA (daily) burst on 21 Sep: +9.57% on 8.7× volume. Eight candles later it was still Coiling, but its After cell read 0 candles inside, volume still heavy (1.2×) - the closes stayed in range, the wicks did not.
Open it on the site →The six checks, in plain words
Each check is a fact held against a limit. The dots in the Checks column are in this order; green passes, red does not, grey is not known yet. Open a stock to read each one as a sentence. All of them except Holding are measured at the burst, on daily sessions, so they read the same on every timeframe.
| Check | Passes when | Why a trader looks at it |
|---|---|---|
| Liquid | The stock traded about ₹10 crore or more on a normal day (the 20 sessions before the burst). | You can get in and out without moving the price. |
| Real buying (Real selling for a fall) | The share of volume delivered (taken home, not squared off the same day) on the burst day is 1.2 times its usual. | Delivery suggests positions, not day trades. Not read yet: this check is grey on every row today. |
| Unusual volume | The burst was the busiest candle in at least the 50 before it. | 3× the average can still be routine for a jumpy stock; busiest in 50 is rarer. |
| Strong close | It closed in the top quarter of its range (bottom quarter for a fall). | Buyers (or sellers) held control into the close. |
| Good place | All three: within 2 daily ATR of the 52-week high (low, for a fall); on the right side of the 200-day average; out of a base of at least 20 sessions. | A burst near the year's extreme, out of a long flat base, is the textbook spot. A base is the run of sessions whose whole high-to-low fits within 6 daily ATR. |
| Holding | While coiling: the newest close sits in the upper half of the burst's range (lower half for a fall) and volume since the burst is below average. Broke out passes; Failed does not; Just fired is not known yet. | A quiet pause near the top of the burst is buyers not letting go. |
Keep in mind. Because delivery is not read yet, no row can show more than 5 checks today, and a Just fired row no more than 4 (Holding is unknown until a candle closes). The default list asks for 4 or more.
Example
ABBOTINDIA's six checks (2 Oct 2026)
Liquid ✓ (about ₹19.7 cr on a normal day, ₹103 cr on the burst). Real buying: grey. Unusual volume ✓ (5.1×, busiest in 90). Strong close ✓ (closed 15% down from the high of its range). Good place ✗ (15.1% - 8.1 ATR - from the 52-week high of 31,400, though above the 200-day average and out of a 24-session base). Holding ✓ (newest close 55% up the range, 0.9× volume since).

Example
One row, read left to right
ABBOTINDIA · Pharma · 18 Sep, 9 candles ago · +5.25%, closed near its high · 5.1× · ₹103 cr, busiest in 90 · Delivery not read yet · Where: 15.1% from 52-wk high, 4-wk base, above 200-day avg · After: 6 candles inside, volume dried up (0.9×) · Risk: stop 3.1% below, trigger 2.4% above · Checks 4.

| Buying bursts / Selling bursts | two pills | Which direction of burst to list. Buying is the default. |
| Timeframe | 1 day (default) · 3 day · 1 week · 2 week · 1 month · 2 month · 3 month | The candle size the burst was found on. |
| Checks passed | any · 1 or more ... 5 or more · all 6 | The least number of checks a row must pass. Default 4 or more. |
| Sort | Most checks (default) · Newest · Loudest volume · Most traded (₹) | Most checks breaks ties by the volume multiple; Newest puts the most recent burst first. |

| State tabs | Coiling · Just fired · Broke out · Failed | Each with a count for the current direction and checks setting. |
Under the tabs, a line names the count and the date of the newest closed candle judged, e.g. "3 coiling on the 1 day candle · closed candles up to 1 Oct", and how many stocks were scanned.
Live setups by sector: a row of chips counting the Coiling and Just fired setups of the chosen direction (at your checks setting) per sector, up to eight. A sector with 3 or more is highlighted. The line ends with "A count, not a signal."
Example
A sector cluster, selling side
Selling bursts, Checks passed = any: on the 1 Oct close MAXHEALTH, APOLLOHOSP and FORTIS - all filed under Pharma - had selling bursts on 30 Sep, still coiling. If your universe holds all three, the sector line shows Pharma 3, highlighted.
Open it on the site →Timeframes
Seven candle sizes: 1 day, 3 day, 1 week, 2 week, 1 month, 2 month and 3 month. Each has its own burst step (4% up to 20%) and its own list. A row follows its setup for 20 candles of that size - 20 days on daily, 20 weeks on weekly.
Slower lists are judged on the last CLOSED candle of that size. On 2 Oct 2026 the 1 day list read "closed candles up to 1 Oct", while the 1 week list read "closed candles up to 25 Sep" - the week of 28 Sep had not closed when it was judged.
The facts behind the checks (rupees traded, 52-week extreme, 200-day average, base, daily ATR) are always measured on daily sessions, so a weekly row's Good place uses the same yardstick as a daily one.
Example
A weekly burst
CAPLIPOINT, 1 week: the week of 31 Aug – 4 Sep rose 11.66% on 4.6× volume (₹957 cr), a new 52-week high out of an 11-week base, above the 200-day average. Three weekly candles later: Coiling, 1 candle inside, volume still heavy (1.4×). 4 checks.
Open it on the site →The chart (click a stock)
Clicking the symbol opens the setup on the site's one chart, on the row's own timeframe, starting about 60 candles before the burst so the base it came out of is in view. Its header names the stock, the chart and the setup, e.g. ABBOTINDIA · Daily · ignition, with buying burst, 4 of 6 checks.
- Volume pane under the candles, with the average of the 20 candles before each one as a dotted line. The burst's volume bar is picked out.
- The burst candle is marked with its multiple, e.g. 5.1× volume.
- A box from the burst to now with two lines: Trigger and Stop. For a buying burst the Trigger is the burst's high and the Stop its low; for a selling burst they swap.
- A sentence over the chart: the row in words, e.g. Buying burst on 18 Sep: +5.25% on 5.1× volume ... 4 of 6 checks.
- Beside it: Checks · N of 6, each with its fact and limit; and What would change it - Breaks out (a close beyond the trigger, and how far), Fails (a close beyond the stop), Risk (trigger to stop, in % and daily ATR), Room (trigger to the 52-week extreme). Selling bursts add Use: In F&O, so it can be sold short - or Not in F&O: a warning for holders, not a trade.
- Other speeds on the strip show that chart plainly, without the box: The setup was judged on 1 day candles. This is the weekly chart itself.
- Click the symbol.
- Find the picked-out volume bar and the dotted average: how far above it was the burst?
- Read the box: where is the last candle between Trigger and Stop?
- Open Layers for averages, levels and trendlines; tick a slower timeframe under Trendlines from to lay its lines on these candles.
Example
Weekly lines over the daily setup
ABBOTINDIA (2 Oct 2026): the daily chart opens with Trigger 27,490 and Stop 26,035. In Layers, tick Weekly or Monthly under Trendlines from to see whether a slower line runs near the Trigger. How lines from other timeframes are drawn is explained in the chart guide.
Open it on the site →Tip. If the chart file is newer than the row, the popup says so in amber (for example, it counts a different number of candles after the burst). The row was judged on the close it names.

Buying bursts and selling bursts
Every rule mirrors. A selling burst is a fall of at least the step on 3× volume, closing in the lower half; its Trigger is the burst's LOW and its Stop the HIGH; Strong close means the bottom quarter; Good place means near the 52-week LOW and below the 200-day average; Holding means the newest close in the lower half.
- F&O stocks can be sold short through futures and options; the Stock cell says F&O.
- Other stocks cannot be shorted overnight in the cash market; the Stock cell says holders' warning - a sign for someone who owns it, not a trade.
Example
A selling burst in F&O, 2 Oct 2026
FORTIS (Pharma · F&O), daily: on 30 Sep it fell 6.33% on 4.8× volume (₹456 cr), closed near its low, 0.4% from its 52-week low, below its 200-day average. On the 1 Oct close: Coiling, stop 4.4% above, trigger 3.6% below, 0 candles inside, volume still heavy (5.8×). 4 checks; Holding did not pass.

1. Coiling setups with 4 or more checks on the daily (the default view).
- Open the tab: Buying bursts, 1 day, Checks passed 4 or more, Coiling.
- Tick Hide hard-to-trade stocks if you need size.
- For each row read After (is volume drying up?) and Risk (how far is the stop?).
- Open the stock and read the checks that did not pass.
Example
Three rows
ABBOTINDIA (burst 18 Sep, 6 candles inside, volume dried up 0.9×), TEGA (21 Sep, new 52-week high, busiest in 250+, 3rd burst in 60, volume still heavy 1.2×) and THELEELA (30 Sep, 1.6% from its 52-week high, 1 candle inside, 0.7×). All three: 4 checks.
Open it on the site →2. Fresh bursts.
- Click the Just fired tab.
- Set Checks passed to any - a fresh burst cannot pass Holding yet.
- Sort by Loudest volume or Most traded (₹).
- Wait for the next closed candle: it decides Coiling, Broke out or Failed.
Example
Just fired on 1 Oct (buying)
SCHNEIDER +5.98% on 6.5×, WELSPUNLIV +5.21% on 5.0× (a new 52-week high), ENRIN +4.19% on 4.3×, HFCL +5.00% on 3.4×, gapped up and closed on its high.
Open it on the site →3. Selling bursts in F&O.

- Read Risk: how far past the trigger the last close is, and where the stop is.
Example
SUNTV and CUB
SUNTV burst 29 Sep (+6.41%) and broke out on 30 Sep with no pause inside first; the 1 Oct close was 7.1% above the trigger, with the stop 17.5% below. CUB burst 30 Sep and broke out on 1 Oct, 0.5% above its trigger.
Open it on the site →6. Setups that failed.
- Click Failed.

- Open the stock to see how long it held before the stop gave way.
Example
POONAWALLA
Burst 18 Sep: +10.77% on 8.8× volume. Eight candles stayed inside, but volume stayed heavy (1.5×) and on 1 Oct a close at 433.40 went under the 434.00 stop: setup over. The same 18 Sep candle was the mother of an 8-candle coil on Inside Bars, which showed ↓8 that day.
Open it on the site →What this tab does not tell you
- Whether more checks means a better outcome. That has not been measured; the tab prints no success rate.
- Delivery: the Real buying / Real selling check is not read yet and is grey on every row.
- What the live candle is doing. States are judged on closed candles; the Risk cell's now line is the only live price.
- Anything after 20 candles. A row leaves the list then, whatever the price did.
- Where to exit. Trigger and Stop are the burst candle's high and low, not targets.
- News or the reason behind the volume.
Keep in mind. A checklist, not a forecast. Nothing here is advice to buy, sell or short any stock.
